ARMONK, N.Y. and PARIS, Dec. 4, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced that Sogeti, a leading provider of professional technology services and wholly-owned subsidiary of Cap Gemini S.A., plans to consolidate its five IT sites in France to a single high availability facility in Paris, running its entire delivery centers systems provision on IBM PureFlex and IBM Storwize V7000.

Sogeti is able to achieve these results thanks to the Flex Systems Manager, which helps increase utilization, reducing the total number of servers required. With the integrated storage, this provides Sogeti with the capacity to run a minimum of 800 virtual machines in high availability, a 60 percent increase at the same level of operations staff.
"IBM PureSystems is the ideal choice because it helps us to grow our business with higher flexibility and better time to market, at the same level of support staff," said Christophe Bonnard, Sogeti France CEO. "As a result, we are able to focus our resources on understanding our customers needs and serving them. PureFlex is a key component of Sogeti's cloud strategy for our own use as well as part of our value proposition to clients."
Sogeti were convinced of the benefits of PureFlex and how it addressed their needs in three key areas:
- PureSystems' single point of management significantly simplified and improved the management of operations, allowing overall capacity to grow significantly without requiring additional staffing;
- both VMware and Hyper-V virtualization environments run on the same IBM PureFlex System, allowing the client to benefit from the right added value at the right cost
- Overall system performance was considerably improved by the internal network switching capabilities
The inclusion of IBM Lab Services in the deal ensures that the Sogeti IT team are able to leverage the integrated patterns of expertise found within PureSystems, to automate and optimize the deployment and maintenance of business workloads. Ultimately, Sogeti plans to sell services based upon the PureFlex offering to its own customers, capitalizing on integrated features designed to accelerate time-to-market for new products and services and creating a key business opportunity for the company.
"Businesses today face significant challenges in managing large amounts of data and information. IBM's expert integrated systems help organizations use their information to better serve their clients and reduce costs," said Andrew Monshaw, General Manager PureFlex, IBM Systems and Technology Group. "The solution we are providing to Sogeti will help them to increase their capacity and simplify their operations management."
The IBM PureSystems family offers clients an alternative to current enterprise computing models, where multiple and disparate systems require significant resources to set up and maintain. PureFlex System delivers the infrastructure services. It enables organizations to more efficiently create and manage an infrastructure. PureApplication System delivers platform services. It helps organizations reduce the cost and complexity of rapidly deploying and managing applications. PureData System provides an integrated data platform that is optimized exclusively for delivering data services for transactional applications or for analytics.
For IBM Business Partners, PureSystems creates a new opportunity to help clients solve the complexity of enterprise IT, reduce costs and encourage innovation. As a system integrator, Sogeti has been a pioneer in this adoption. Beyond this PureFlex acquisition, Sogeti is proposing its clients take advantage of the full benefits of Smarter Computing with IBM: designing and integrating systems that are cloud ready, big data ready, with high standards of security. This will help clients move from sprawling infrastructures to systems which enable profitable growth.
