STONY BROOK, N.Y., Oct. 31, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Softheon, a national leader in cloud-based health insurance exchange distribution and services, announced today that it has been selected by Long Island Business News as one of the top 5 best places to work on Long Island.
"It's extremely gratifying and humbling to know that our diverse team members feel as passionate about making insurance affordable and accessible as I do," said Softheon Founder, CEO, & Chairman Eugene Sayan. "We go to great lengths to make our people feel appreciated and happy. To see these satisfaction scores is truly a validation of our efforts," added Sayan.
Long Island Business News selects and recognizes businesses that go out of their way to create fun and engaging work environments for their employees. This year's winners have been highlighted as companies that showcase how developing a respectful, creative, and supportive corporate culture can help a company succeed.
This year's competition included an employee engagement survey that required participation from at least 50% of the company's workforce. Each question in the survey was given a value of 1 to 6 points, depending on the response checked by the employee – "Strongly Disagree" to "Strongly Agree." Questions were broken down into 10 different categories: Team effectiveness, retention risk, alignment with goals, trust with co-workers, individual contribution, manager effectiveness, trust in senior leaders, feeling valued, work engagement and people practices. The scores were determined when all the survey responses were added up and divided by the total number of questions from the surveys completed by each company.
"We are always striving to make the working environment a warm, inviting, and inclusive place," says Chuck Marcelin, Talent Acquisition Manager. "At Softheon, we realize that our employees have families, and we look for activities that can bring everyone together. Whether it's team scavenger hunts, trips to Six Flags, or a day spent building homes for Habitat for Humanity, we want our team members to feel like their work matters," Marcelin added.
Softheon was also recently honored by competitive insights company Owler, as being one of the top companies for leadership team diversity according to its 2017 diversity study. Owler's Perceptions of Leadership Team Diversity Study is run nationally across many industries. Companies highlighted include those that have taken positive steps to ensuring diversity is appreciated and encouraged within their workplaces, based on responses from an Owler survey to over 1.5 million members. Softheon was ranked #20 with a score of 85.0/100.
Softheon continues to add to their growing team. To find out more about career opportunities at Softheon, visit the company's careers page.
