PARIS, March 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Sofitel Luxury Hotels celebrates the opening of Sofitel Essaouira Mogador Golf & Spa, located in the seaside resort of Mogador. With 147 bedrooms and suites, the hotel features a golf course by Gary Player, a dedicated health and fitness building home to the So SPA and the So FIT and culinary offerings that combine the best of French and Moroccan cuisine. Sofitel Essaouira Mogador Golf & Spa is Sofitel's seventh property to launch in Morocco.
Guests can appreciate the tranquility of Morocco's wide open spaces from any view in the hotel. The seamless continuity between the indoors and the outdoors is noticeable from the expansive lobby's entrance where the view stretches out beyond the golf course and across the ocean. The 147 bedrooms and suites and 28 villas, two of which were designed by LACOSTE, feature clawed wood, dry stone and Moroccan patterns.
The Sofitel Essaouira Mogador Golf & Spa welcomes golfers of all levels to enjoy the 36-hole Mogador golf course designed by legendary South African golfer Gary Player. Bordering sand dunes, the forest and the Atlantic, the course was designed to fit perfectly within the natural terrain. Four of Sofitel's other properties in Morocco are located in well-known golfing destinations, including Marrakech, Agadir, Fes and Rabat.
Sofitel So SPA offers eight private treatment booths, a traditional Oriental steam bath with three basins, a wave pool and a lounge area placed in front of an astonishing waterfall. Clarins and Cinq Mondes are the spa's selected beauty partners. The So FIT fitness area is at the cutting edge of technical progress and design, and provides a natural setting stretching out into the distance, as well as a Technogym.
Atelier aux Aromes (Taste Workshop) is presented by the talented duo of Chef Philippe Bourdon and Chef Fatima Targa. The two combine their skills to create the very best in French and Moroccan gastronomy. Guests can dine on wok and tagine dishes at Kasbah Cafe, or enjoy a shrine to Essaouira's mouth-watering seafood at the Atlantic. The Tea Lounge celebrates and perpetuates time-old tea rituals, while the astonishing Tiki So, a bar made using 50,000 pieces of glass, features an extensive cocktail menu in tribute to the first rum routes which began in Mogador.
