"This new facility is in-line with our strategy to support our business growth with new capacity," stated Daniel Birnbaum, CEO of SodaStream. "For our consumables, it is particularly important to build these facilities geographically close to the markets we serve. This enhances the efficiency of our supply chain, improves response time, and reduces the environmental impact of trucking and shipping. Historically, we have experienced these benefits from our seven other CO2 facilities, and expect this new location to provide similar advantages over time."
The new factory houses one of the most advanced filling lines in the world, and meets all of the necessary EU-directive safety guidelines, such as ISBT for beverage grade carbon dioxide, standard BS EN 936-2006 chemicals for water treatment and carbon dioxide, and European Industrial Gases Association AISBL on IGC Doc 70/08/E for CO2 quality. SodaStream cylinders meet EU directives PED and TPED, and the entire production operates under an ISO 9001:2008 Quality Assurance system that is certified and regularly audited by Lloyds Register of London. Each cylinder that arrives is inspected, cleaned, refilled and thoroughly reviewed by QA before shipment back to the market.
Mr. Birnbaum concluded, "This new facility is an important addition to our overall European production and supply chain, and will add incremental capacity of up to 3.5 million refills annually to meet the growing demand in that region. It is a fully-automated line that was conceived, designed and built in-house at our machine tooling plant, using the unique know-how of our experienced engineering team. Last year we added similar facilities in Sweden and the US, and we expect to maintain this trend as our business continues to grow."
