Sococo Granted Its First Patent
U.S. Patent 7,769,806 for Automated Realtime Data Stream Switching in a Shared Virtual Communication Environment
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Sept. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Sococo®, a new personal communication service, announced today it has been granted the first patent in its portfolio by the U.S. Patent Office. U.S. Patent 7,769,806.
This patent is particularly significant for the rapidly restructuring global telecommunications market. Much of the technology in this patent relates to switching realtime streams. Switching is fundamental to how connections are formed when people want to interact through a network. Sococo's new switching technology takes a very different approach to the problem, and the result is both easier for people to use and less expensive to operate than previous technology.
The technology in this patent underlies the smart spaces used in the recently announced Team Space service. Smart spaces help people communicate more naturally and effectively. People navigate into a smart space and are automatically connected to everyone in that space with multi-channel communications and visual cues that enable them to visualize where they are and what's going on around them. David Van Wie, the author of this patent, holds 51 additional patents and is widely considered to be a thought leader in communications and digital rights management.
