SOCMA to Present President's Leadership Award for Advocacy, Service at Annual Meeting in New York

WASHINGTON, Nov. 21, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Society of Chemical Manufacturers and Affiliates (SOCMA) announced today that Dr. Stephen Munk, President of Ash Stevens, and Dr. Beth Bosley, President of Boron Specialties LLC, will be honored with the SOCMA President's Leadership Award for their exceptional contributions benefiting the specialty chemical industry through advocacy and service. Munk and Bosley will be honored during the association's 92^nd Annual Dinner on December 9 in New York City.

Munk, recipient of the President's Leadership Award for Excellence in Service, is a champion for SOCMA's ChemStewards® program. "He not only has encouraged our ChemStewards Managing Director in his quest to create a paradigm shift in the program, but he has given his valuable time to provide leadership, guidance and perspective for a number of exciting new initiatives that will move our flagship environmental, health, safety and security (EHS&S) program forward," said SOCMA President & CEO Lawrence D. Sloan.

As recipient of the President's Leadership Award for Excellence in Advocacy, Bosley's participation in SOCMA Government Relations activities is nothing short of remarkable. For many years Bosley served as chair of SOCMA's Chemical Risk Management Committee, and she has maintained active involvement with the association while starting her own business. Despite her busy schedule, she regularly shares insight on chemical control laws at the annual Global Chemical Regulations Conference, travels to Washington to participate in meetings regarding key issues impacting specialty chemical makers, and serves as a voice for the industry through her testimony on Capitol Hill about Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) reform. "No other SOCMA member volunteer in recent memory has contributed their time and expertise to the association as much as Beth has, particularly over the past several years," Sloan said.
