SOCMA Commends the U.S. International Trade Commission on a Job Well-Done
WASHINGTON, Dec. 20, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Miscellaneous Tariff Bill (MTB) petition submission period closed on December 12, and the Society of Chemical Manufacturers and Affiliates (SOCMA) commends the U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC) on facilitating a smooth petition process.
The USITC provided much needed support as well as relevant and timely educational material to affected companies. SOCMA members greatly appreciated the USITC's quick responses and efficiency throughout the MTB petition submission process. SOCMA looks forward to continuing to work with the USITC as we move on to the next steps of the process.
The MTB process will eliminate duty suspensions on inputs and other products not produced or available in the United States that are important to the manufacturing process. Further, these duty suspensions will assist U.S. chemical manufacturers in regaining their competitiveness, investing in research and development efforts, and creating new jobs.
