Performance Improvement, Advocacy, Service Awards Highlight Year-End Event
WASHINGTON, Nov. 5, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A sneak peek of the 2014 Leadership and Business Development Forum will be among the highlights at the Society of Chemical Manufacturers and Affiliates (SOCMA) 92nd Annual Dinner set for December 9, 2013, at the New York Marriott Marquis Times Square.
Introducing a new element to Annual Dinner festivities, SOCMA has invited financial, leadership and energy experts to give industry updates as part of a Speaker Showcase that will precede the evening event. Speakers and topics include:
- Peter Tanous, economist, Lepercq Lynx Investment Advisory, LLC – "Global Economic Update"
- Dan Seidman, author and international sales trainer, Got Influence? – "Power of Influence"
- Randy Rabenhorst, principal, Nexant, Inc. Energy & Chemicals Consulting– "State of the Natural Gas Industry"
The Speaker Showcase is a brief glimpse of SOCMA's 2014 Leadership and Business Development Forum that will be held May 19-21 in Charleston, SC.
A time-honored tradition attended by hundreds of the specialty chemical industry's top executives and their customers, SOCMA's Annual Dinner features speed networking, a reception and awards ceremony for winners of SOCMA's Performance Improvement, Educational Outreach and Sustainability Awards. The awards honor achievements of ChemStewards® participants in environmental, health, safety and security measures, and recognize their efforts to work with local educational programs in areas of chemistry and implementation of sustainability practices to improve their carbon footprint. SOCMA will also recognize two members with the President's Leadership Award for their exceptional contributions benefitting the specialty chemical industry through advocacy and service.
The Capitol Steps, recently featured in the Washington Post, will provide entertainment for the evening. Starting in 1981 as a group of Senate staffers who set out to satirize the very people and places that employed them, the Capitol Steps have recorded more than 30 albums.
On December 10, SOCMA will hold its annual business meeting and elections, as well as a breakfast sponsored by the association's grassroots advocacy network, SOCMA CONNECT.
Registration fee for both the dinner and reception is waived for credentialed press, but space is limited. To RSVP, please contact Jenny Gaines at (202) 721-4123. For hotel reservations, call 1-800-843-4898.
