NEW YORK, May 31, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Society of Corporate Secretaries and Governance Professionals today announced appointments of David M. Martin and Teresa L. Webb to key positions at the Society. David Martin was named Vice President of Business Development and Research, and Teresa Webb was named Director of Membership and Marketing.

Mr. Martin will have a lead role on strategic initiatives, working with Ms. Webb and with the Society Board and Society officers Ken Bertsch, Darla Stuckey and Suzanne Walker. These initiatives include the Society's alliances and partnerships. Mr. Martin also will support the Society's research projects and oversee content management.
Ms. Webb will lead Society membership support and recruitment efforts. She will work closely with Society Chapter leadership and the Board on these efforts, and on public relations and marketing. Ms. Webb joined the Society staff in January 2012 as content manager, and has and continues to lead a project to substantially upgrade the Society's web site, working with IT Director Russell Benasaraf.
Mr. Martin joins the Society from Morgan Stanley, where he most recently worked in Risk Management in the Research Division. Previously, Mr. Martin spent over four years on Morgan Stanley Investment Management's Corporate Governance team, where he focused on proxy voting and portfolio company engagement. He has more than 10 years of work experience, and an MBA in Finance and Accounting from the New York University Stern School of Business.
Ms. Webb has more than 30 years of management and business experience in a variety of large and small corporate, entrepreneurial, and nonprofit organizations. Most recently, she was responsible for New York operations of London-based asset manager Governance for Owners, and she spent eight years as Director of Institutional Investor Relations for Pomerantz Haudek Block Grossman & Gross LLP, a law firm. Ms. Webb previously served as Deputy Director of the Council of Institutional Investors, among other responsibilities handling membership development; and as an analyst and client service manager at Wachovia Bank.
