Social/Mobile Analytics Company Kontagent Commits To Future In Toronto Via Major Tech Hiring Effort
Company Seeking Engineers at All Levels of Experience to Fuel Expansion into Hottest New Areas Of Big Data; $10,000 "Big Data Challenge" Competition Highlights Campaign
SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Kontagent, the leader in social and mobile analytics, today announced a focused campaign to hire computer engineers for its Toronto, Canada office. The company is seeking engineers at all levels of experience, from junior to senior, to help it meet huge development demands related to new products in the field of data analytics.
Kontagent, which helps companies identify, analyze and act on patterns in their social and mobile user data, is expanding beyond its current base of expertise in the social/mobile gaming arena. The company foresees developing products that address Big Data analytics in a number of new and expanding business categories, and intends to leverage Toronto's considerable engineering talent base to help with product innovation and development.
To draw attention to its Toronto hiring effort, and to identify individuals with exceptional talent in the realm of Big Data analytics, Kontagent is staging a Big Data Challenge. The grand prize winner will be awarded $10,000, to be announced at Kontagent Konnect, a gala networking/tech talk event on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012, from 6 to 9 PM at:
Rockwood Club
31 Mercer St.
Toronto, Ontario M5V 1H2

"Kontagent is the recognized leader in social and mobile analytics, as our recent growth has affirmed," said Jeff Tseng, Kontagent Chief Executive Officer. "In the past year our revenue has jumped 500% and we've tripled our headcount. Anyone using mobile as part of their business strategy is realizing how important data analytics is—which means Kontagent is now branching out into business segments well beyond social and mobile gaming. Our company is an ideal place for engineers who want to ride this wave of interest into mainstream business."
Kontagent has maintained a Toronto technical office since 2010, but has recently chosen to develop its location in the city as a twin engineering headquarters, along with its San Francisco HQ. "Toronto is a great city for engineering talent. The University of Waterloo, among other schools, turns out highly skilled professionals," said Tseng. "We hope to build on that talent base and create a significant presence in the local community over the coming years."
High-Profile Contest
In addition to its outreach at hiring fairs and local universities, Kontagent intends its Big Data Challenge to create a high degree of visibility for its Toronto hiring effort. The Big Data Challenge
is open to both individuals and teams of up to four people. Each entrant in the challenge will use the wealth of data available under the toronto.ca/open initiative to generate actionable insights.
"Data patterns and anomalies can take many forms, and impact businesses in many different ways," Tseng explained. "Data-driven businesses succeed by being able to rapidly identify and act on these patterns and anomalies. So, entrants should be creative in deciding how they will use the data to solve real-world problems in Toronto."
