Sobeys Inc. donates $50,000 to Canadian Red Cross for Typhoon Haiyan Relief - Customers can also contribute at store level
STELLARTON, NS, Nov. 12, 2013 /CNW/ - Following the devastation caused by Typhoon Haiyan, Sobeys Inc. announced that it will donate $50,000 to support the Canadian Red Cross' relief efforts in the Philippines.
"The effects of Typhoon Haiyan are catastrophic and its impact is being felt by all Canadians, especially those with family and friends in the Philippines," said Marc Poulin, President and Chief Executive Officer, Sobeys Inc. "Sobeys is proud to support the Canadian Red Cross' work with governments and other organizations to identify critical recovery needs and ways to best help those who need it the most."
Until the end of November, Sobeys Inc. customers will also have the opportunity to donate $2, $5 or $10 at stores across the country, with all proceeds directed to the Canadian Red Cross. The Government of Canada will be matching every dollar donated by Canadians from Saturday November 9, 2013 to Sunday, December 8, 2013.
