A Billboard-Writing Contest Invites Philly-philes To Get In On The With Love, Philadelphia XOXO® Campaign
PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Anyone can get their name and their original love letter on a billboard thanks to Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation's (GPTMC) new contest, beginning today and running through February 4, 2011. Part of the popular With Love, Philadelphia XOXO® campaign, the letter-writing contest enables Philly fans and budding copy writers to submit With Love lines at visitphilly.com/contest for a chance to see their work and name on a billboard along Philadelphia's I-95, the main East Coast highway, in February.
Here's how it works:
- Philly fan goes to visitphilly.com/contest.
- He/She enters a love letter, up to 82 characters.
- Within 24 hours, he/she receives an e-mail that the submission was approved.
- He/She posts the letter to Facebook and Twitter to show off the creation.
- GPTMC chooses the winner when the contest ends on February 4.
The billboard contest enables Philly locals, visitors and fans to engage with the With Love campaign and say why they think Philadelphia is a draw for visitors. "We wanted to give Philadelphia's fans another chance to participate in the campaign," said Meryl Levitz, president and CEO, GPTMC, "and we think the billboard contest is something both residents and visitors can have fun with."
GPTMC will use the combined power of traditional and social media to get the word out about the contest. Starting January 12, billboards on I-95 in Philadelphia, Route 30 in New Jersey and on the Pennsylvania Turnpike near Harrisburg will tout the contest. Social media applications will enable letter-writers to share their creations and spread the news of the contest to larger audiences.
For inspiration, would-be copywriters can see a slideshow of previous print advertisements or watch the television commercial at visitphilly.com/withlove.
