EVERETT, Wash. and FRAMINGHAM, Mass., March 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Rave Mobile Safety (Rave), the trusted software partner for campus and public safety, and SNOPAC 911 Emergency Communications, today announced that SNOPAC has been named the recipient of the 2015 NG9-1-1 Public-Private Partnership Award. This honor was given by the NG9-1-1 Institute, a not-for-profit organization that supports the mission of the Congressional NextGen 9-1-1 Caucus, at their 12th Annual Honor Awards Gala, held Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington, D.C.
"It's important to recognize those that have acted heroically or lead advancements in emergency response; it sets a new standard that can increase safety nationwide," said Kim Robert Scovill, Esq., executive director of the NG9-1-1 Institute. "Organizations such as SNOPAC have done just that, and as a result, those involved in public safety gain invaluable examples and ideas to better protect all citizens."
The NG9-1-1 Public-Private Partnership Award recognizes 9-1-1 professionals for initiative, creativity, diligence and teamwork in solving a critical 9-1-1 issue. In 2014, SNOPAC and seven area school districts partnered with Rave Mobile Safety to bolster emergency response capabilities to active shooter incidents, recognizing that most of these situations end prior to the arrival of the first police officer. SNOPAC and school officials deployed Rave Panic Button, a solution tying together 9-1-1, first responders and school personnel, providing critical information and increased collaboration, especially during the initial moments of an incident. This strategy set a new best-practice for handling active shooter and other incidents and is now being replicated elsewhere.
"We are honored to receive this award from the NG9-1-1 Institute and to be recognized for increasing the safety of our schools and well-being of the nearly 750,000 residents of Snohomish County," said Kurt Mills, executive director of SNOPAC 911 Emergency Communications. "Partnering with Rave Mobile Safety and our local school districts to increase the capabilities of so many aspects of our critical emergency communications systems, and specifically in our schools with Rave's Panic Button, has been a key reason SNOPAC is able to provide the best emergency response services."
The NG9-1-1 Honor Awards Gala is a widely attended public event, attended by Congressional staff, the general public, public safety professionals and members of the media. The NG9-1-1 Institute takes no positions on legislation or regulation. Rather, it's a neutral platform where thought leaders educate, discuss, and debate important public safety and NG9-1-1 issues.
"To see our partners at SNOPAC recognized for their leadership and use of Rave's technology is extremely gratifying," said Tom Axbey, chief executive officer at Rave Mobile Safety. "We send our warmest congratulations to Kurt Mills and his team at SNOPAC for this highly deserved honor."
