SNC-Lavalin awarded contract for MEG Energy's Christina Lake Regional Project
MONTREAL, Aug. 6, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - SNC-Lavalin (TSX: SNC) has been awarded a contract by MEG Energy to complete the detailed engineering and provide procurement services for Phase 3A of the Christina Lake Regional Project steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) central processing facility in northeast Alberta. The contract's service order represents over 800,000 hours of work.
MEG Energy is a pure-play oil sands producer with a large, wholly owned resource base concentrated in the southern Athabasca region of Alberta. The company owns over 2,300 square kilometres of oil sands leases in three key assets. SAGD technology is expected to be a key component in MEG Energy's plan to increase production at these fields.
Phase 3A, the first phase in a multi-stage project with regulatory approval to produce 150,000 barrels per day, is part of an overall Master Professional Services Agreement signed between MEG Energy and SNC-Lavalin in September, 2011. The contract also includes technical support to MEG Energy's Construction Management Team.
"This win is the result of SNC-Lavalin's sustained efforts to deliver on its resources strategy," said Richard Neale, Senior Vice-President, Oil & Gas, SNC-Lavalin Group Inc. "As we continue to build our platform, reputation and relationships across the oil and gas industry, we anticipate future project wins. We expect that MEG Energy will continue to be a key strategic client for us and we look forward to serving them on future projects."
The work will be executed from SNC-Lavalin's offices in Calgary and its High Value Engineering Centre in Mumbai.
