Snap-on Partnering with Universal Technical Institute Foundation to Provide More than 100 Students with Relocation Grants
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Nov. 20, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Snap-on, a long-time supporter of technical education has developed an initiative with the Universal Technical Institute (UTI) Foundation to assist students attending Universal Technical Institute (UTI) with relocation costs through a one-time grant, the Snap-on Relocation Grant. Snap-on is providing funding to the UTI Foundation for more than 100 grants to be issued in 2014.
More than 15,000 students attend UTI's 11 campuses across the country, and, for many, relocation costs to drive and move from one state to another can mean the difference between getting to UTI to start school and not going at all.
"Snap-on believes technical education is critical to our country's future," says Andy Ginger, President, Snap-on Industrial. "Cost can be daunting to students who want to pursue a technical education. When you combine tuition and fees with costs to relocate, it can be a real challenge. Snap-on wants to ensure that students who need to relocate to attend UTI have the resources to do so. When we graduate first-rate technicians, it helps our industry and our economy."
Future UTI students at any campus will be able to apply for a relocation grant by completing an application, writing an essay and submitting a letter of reference.
"This thoughtful series of grants from Snap-on will be true life-savers for students who receive them," says Veronica A Meury, UTI Foundation Vice President and Executive Director. "Without this help, many students can't start their education, and that's such a tragedy. Many students aren't able to get jobs to save enough money to start school. A Snap-on relocation grant will provide the necessary safety net to get students to school."
The Snap-on relocation grants are available to future UTI students beginning in November. Applications are available on the UTI Foundation website at www.utifoundation.net.
