ATLANTA, Feb. 26, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Society for Maintenance & Reliability Professionals (SMRP) is excited to announce today its new 2018 Student Advancement Opportunities. These opportunities include access to free webinars, the opening of applications for the SMRP annual scholarship program, and student membership. They are designed to give students enrolled in maintenance, reliability and engineering-focused studies exposure to real-world topics and SMRP members that can help them transition into their careers.
SMRP's Student Discount Webinars offer five free on-demand presentations to students using a special code available to them online. Each webinar follows one of the five pillars of the SMRP Body of Knowledge (BoK), a roadmap to world-class performance in maintenance, reliability and physical asset management for practitioners and professionals. These pillars include Business & Management, Manufacturing Process Reliability, Equipment Reliability, Organization & Leadership, and Work Management.
Today also marks the opening of applications for SMRP annual scholarship program for the 2018 – 2019 academic year. SMRP offers five scholarships worth up to $10,000 to undergraduate and graduate students at two- and four-year schools, universities and colleges. Scholarship applications will be available until early June 2018, with winners being announced in August later in the year.
"With the need for more qualified individuals entering the workforce, we're constantly looking for ways to grow our outreach to students," said Erin Erickson, executive director of SMRP. "It's SMRP's duty to ensure that students pursing a profession in maintenance, reliability and physical asset management, whether at a traditional university, technical school or community college, have access to resources that will support them."
Along with these new opportunities, SMRP also offers student membership for a discounted rate. SMRP membership gives students a chance to participate in SMRP events, webinars and programs that give them vital real-world knowledge.
