EAST MORICHES, N.Y., April 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- SMI CEO Scott Crennan announced today a partnership and donation agreement with charity: water, a global non-profit organization bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations.

charity: water funds water programs in 22 countries around the globe - in Africa, Asia, Central and South America. Water scarcity, poverty, political stability and strong partner organizations all play a part in where charity: water chooses to work. SMI's project will fund a school's piped water system in Bangladesh that will take approximately 18 months to complete. charity: water will vet local partners, choosing only those with a strong track record of work in their region. They will then work alongside the partners to determine the best technology and location for the project. Throughout the project, charity: water will update SMI with progress reports and a completion report inclusive of GPS coordinates, photos and the population of the community residents whose lives were enhanced.
Just about any organization or individual can sponsor a water project with charity: water and the donation ranges from $6,000-$10,000 US dollars. Based on geography, projects range from filtration systems to drilled wells to piped water systems. charity: water will match the gift to the area of greatest need.
