LONDON, August 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
Before the start of our next conference season the Board of SMi Group is keen to inform our valuable customers of a judgment in the Civil Law Division of the Court of The Hague (case no. 406269) which prohibited the CBRN-E Asia 2012 conference taking place before 23 August 2012 as well as ordering IB Consultancy to cease and desist from any infringement of SMi's copyrights and to destroy all confidential information which belonged to SMi.
Following advice of our lawyers, SMi Group is taking further action to protect its events, copyrights, data and clients by issuing proceedings (claim no. HC12C00630) in the High Court, London.
As market leaders we felt compelled to take this action to best defend our interests and the integrity of the sector that we work in. We have worked tirelessly to provide a network of events that is instrumental to knowledge building within the sector and the opportunity for a host of businesses to come together.
It has recently come to the attention of SMi that IB Consultancy BV has been declared bankrupt by the Court of The Hague (case F.12/591). We will continue to update you as the matter progresses.
