DEARBORN, Mich., May 16, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The SME Education Foundation has awarded Alcoa Foundation with the 2016 Outstanding Partner honor for its continued support of the Education Foundation and its Partnership Response In Manufacturing Education (PRIME®) initiative. With Alcoa Foundation's backing, students, teachers, and high schools have access to 21st-century technology, equipment and curriculum, thus helping to create a sustainable, tailored approach to workforce development.

Alcoa Foundation has been a dedicated supporter of PRIME since 2011, and as one of the first funders of this initiative, the Pittsburgh-based organization has committed to investing a total of $750,000 through 2018. This funding is transforming manufacturing education programs at high schools near Alcoa facilities in southern California and Ohio.
