FRAMINGHAM, Mass., Aug. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Rave Mobile Safety, developer of Smart911, the trusted database of critical data on 9-1-1 callers, announced today at the All Hazards Summit in Boston the launch of its SmartPrepare solution for emergency management. SmartPrepare enhances whole community preparedness by providing emergency managers with actionable information on the needs of individuals in a community in order to help mitigate the effects of, prepare for, and respond to disasters and other emergency incidents.

Already deployed in Washington, D.C., New Canaan, CT, and Osage County, MO, SmartPrepare allows citizens to share critical information about themselves and their families with emergency management and public health officials, enabling them to more effectively handle complex and dynamic incidents. The safe and secure citizen-managed data is automatically validated and geocoded by the system, allowing for better response through the rapid identification and geospatial visualization of specific community needs. As a result, emergency management can respond rapidly to such issues as medical conditions and disabilities requiring special resources at emergency shelters, mobility limitations necessitating evacuation assistance, handling of pets and more. Most importantly, it provides the ability to more efficiently plan for emergencies and respond to those in the greatest need of assistance.
"Since Hurricane Irene last year, our Town had been searching for ways in which we could enhance our existing process for identifying and locating at-risk individuals within our community and SmartPrepare is that solution," said Robert E. Mallozzi III, First Selectman of New Canaan (CT). "SmartPrepare gives us the capability to rapidly access information provided by our residents in a manner that helps prioritize activities during disaster planning and response, allowing us to better serve our residents and businesses."
"If we have an incident related to our nuclear power plant, it is too late to be guessing what resources you may need," added Andrea (Andi) Rice, Emergency Management Director for Osage County, MO. "We need to know what resources to have on standby long before a disaster, and SmartPrepare could give me the information needed for that."
With SmartPrepare, residents are able to create a Safety Profile at www.smart911.com that is available to emergency officials in supported areas, allowing them to better tailor their disaster response efforts. Safety Profiles created at the site are kept confidential and secure, and are only visible to select public safety officials if the citizen explicitly allows the data to be shared for emergency planning purposes.
"The availability of situationally-relevant data during major incidents can mean the difference between life and death. Emergency management can more efficiently prepare for and respond to emergencies with additional information provided by citizens through a private and secure system," said the CEO of Rave Mobile Safety, Tom Axbey. "Smart911 brought that data to 9-1-1 call centers and first responders, now SmartPrepare is marking the next step in this public safety evolution by bringing critical data to emergency management."
