Smartlink Health Solutions Welcomes Genevieve Morris as Newest Advisory Board Member
CARY, N.C., Nov. 28, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Smartlink Health Solutions, a pioneer in bi-directional data exchange across EHRs and other systems via front-end integration, announced today that Genevieve Morris, a highly respected thought leader with more than 10 years of experience in the health IT interoperability trenches, has joined its Advisory Board.
"Genevieve's policy expertise and insights into the industry's interoperability challenges make her a welcome addition to our Board. Her input will help further the continuous improvement and expansion of our Smartlink Data Connector, a disruptive Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution that is breaking down healthcare's communication silos and enabling data liquidity now," says Siu Tong, CEO of Smartlink Health.
Ms. Morris served as the Chief Health Information Officer for the VA's Office of EHR Modernization and Principal Deputy National Coordinator for the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC). In her time at ONC, she led the development of the Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement, an effort aimed at achieving nationwide interoperability. She's now continuing her tireless efforts to bridge the gaps in the management and sharing of healthcare data via Integral Health Strategies (IHS), a consulting company she recently founded.
"Throughout my career, I've been a fierce proponent of standards-based interoperability at scale. While we've made great strides, right now we have really small pockets of data sharing and it's just not enough. Smartlink has a scalable option for making data liquid now to enable clinicians to provide high quality care and participate in value-based and patient-centered payment programs. I'm proud to add my voice to such a forward-driven team," says Morris.
Launched earlier this year, Smartlink Data Connector (SDC) evolved out of 25 years and $50 million of investment to develop a universal and efficient approach to integrating thousands of complex systems in other industries. SDC leverages the user interface for data sharing initiatives that would traditionally require an HL7 interface, providing speed to data at a fraction of the cost. SDC has already gained strong traction with accountable care organizations, clinically integrated networks, health information exchanges, and independent labs.
Ms. Morris will help to guide the company on the optimal markets and use cases to pursue as well as provide input on roadmap prioritization.
Ms. Morris' perspectives on the current and future state of healthcare interoperability can be found in a recent whitepaper published by Smartlink Health solutions, "All Things Interoperability: A Conversation with Genevieve Morris."
