SmartDrive Welcomes Andy Deninger as Vice President of Engineering
--Seasoned Veteran in the Telematics Industry Joins SmartDrive--
SAN DIEGO, March 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- SmartDrive Systems, a leader in driving performance solutions that reduce collisions and improve fuel efficiency, announced today that it has appointed Andy Deninger to vice president of engineering. With nearly two decades of developing telematics platforms that cater to the varying needs of transportation fleets, Deninger will be responsible for spearheading product innovation for SmartDrive's video based safety and transportation analytics platform, as well as its application development and firmware quality assurance.
"I'm excited to be joining the SmartDrive team," stated Deninger. "Telematics solutions provide tremendous value, but they often lack the visibility that timely video insights can offer. To succeed in this space, platforms must manage and analyze the scale of "big data" coming from the vehicle, accurately identify material risk and provide quick, insightful analysis to fleets. SmartDrive does that today and I look forward to leading our team as we continue to push the boundaries of safety innovation with our platform."
Deninger comes to SmartDrive from Omnitracs, LLC, formerly a business unit of Qualcomm, where he led the engineering division and helped build the department's expansive hardware and software solutions. Most recently, Deninger was the driving force behind the design and development of the company's Mobile Computing Platform (MCP) 50 to aid its significant market expansion. As a core value of SmartDrive's software-as-a-service model, Deninger will drive the strategic roadmap, reinforcing the long term value the company's flexible, open platform delivers to customers. SmartDrive's integrated vehicle safety system provides fleets with timely, comprehensive video analysis of what's happening on the road, leveraging existing technologies within the cab and data generated to help drivers make better, faster decisions.
"Andy's deep technical experience in the transportation space paired with his extensive background in building telematics platforms will play a critical role in SmartDrive's future platform innovation," said Steve Mitgang, CEO of SmartDrive. "Our customers are reacting to driving risks in real-time and need a solution that is capable of delivering insights within minutes of the event, not days or months. This requires a predictive analytics platform with an open architecture that scales, enabling fleets to take advantage of their existing safety technology investments, as well as those they will make in the future. Simply put, you need a technical team with the experience and expertise to achieve this, and we're thrilled to have Andy leading the charge."
