FRAMINGHAM, Mass., Nov. 10, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Smart911, the life-saving, national safety service, today announced the launch of a newly redesigned website. This improved interface will make it even easier and faster for citizens to create their free Safety Profile, which provides 9-1-1 with greater intelligence about their household when responding to an emergency call. These enhancements, including a more seamless mobile interface, will allow citizens to more easily manage their Safety Profile from any computer, smartphone or tablet.
To celebrate this launch, Smart911 will be giving away 12 Kindle Fires to new and existing users. Six Fires will be awarded to current users and six will be awarded to people who sign up between now and the end of the month. New users can create their free Safety Profile at Smart911.com. Existing users can enter multiple times by sharing Smart911.com on social media using #Smart911WIN, signing up for the Smart911 email list and sharing their personal Smart911 story. More information is available at http://safety.smart911.com/share-to-win
The new Smart911.com also features a new resource section, filled with safety tips, stories of lives saved by Smart911 and materials to help spread the word about Smart911 in communities across the country. The mobile friendly site is compatible with any device and allows users to be able to update their household Safety Profile anytime.
Also new to the site is a partner page, detailing community and advocacy groups across the country who support Smart911 for their community. "For individuals who cannot communicate because they are deaf, hard-of-hearing, or speech-impaired, precious time is saved when 9-1-1 call takers have immediate access to the vital information contained within a Smart911 Safety Profile," said Barbara Schreiber, executive director of Quota International. "Together with Smart911, Quota International is giving women, children, the deaf, hard-of-hearing, and speech-impaired a strong, clear voice should they need to call 9-1-1, supplying instant, lifesaving information directly to dispatchers and first responders. We urge everyone to create a Safety Profile for their household today."
Smart911 is a national safety service that has saved lives and helped create more positive emergency outcomes. Citizens can create a free Safety Profile for their household, which can include data about an individual, family, a residence, and even pets. Details range from medical conditions, disabilities and special needs to home addresses associated with mobile phones, utilities, emergency contacts and more. As a result, fire crews will have details of how many people live at a home and the location of bedrooms and gas valves. For EMS, the safety profile details result in faster and more, precise medical treatment. And because profiles can contain photos, in the event of a missing child, police can gain an advantage, receiving critical information in seconds versus hours.
"We pay very close attention to the feedback we receive from both public safety officials who use Smart911 to enhance their 9-1-1 operations and the general public," said Tom Axbey, president and CEO, Rave Mobile Safety. "Those who use Smart911, whether making the 9-1-1 call or answering it, are in the best position to help us improve our service and we take their opinions to heart. We've learned that those who create their Safety Profile are not only helping protect their families but also want to learn more about public safety, and public safety is looking to learn more about the communities they serve. Our new community page will provide the resources to help facilitate communication between these two groups."
Smart911 is currently available in 40 states and more than 1,500 municipalities. It has been credited with positively impacting emergency situations and saving lives across the U.S., including a missing child case in Arkansas, a heart attack victim in Tennesee and a man trapped in a house fire in Michigan. As a national service, anytime a person with a Smart911 Safety Profile dials 9-1-1 in any location in the U.S. that supports Smart911, their profile will automatically appear to dispatchers allowing for more information to be available at the time of an emergency.
