FRAMINGHAM, Mass., Oct. 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Rave Mobile Safety (Rave), the trusted partner for campus and public safety, today announced the rapid national expansion of Smart911 continues, with 21 additional Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) across the country deploying the public safety service in the past three months alone. Smart911 brings added protection to citizens by enabling emergency responders to arrive at the right location more quickly and with the right resources.
Amongst those newly joining Smart911 is the City of Tempe, the first in Arizona to deploy the service, Sussex County (Del.), Montgomery County (Ala.) and Snohomish County (Wash.). More than 1,000 U.S. municipalities in 37 states now benefit from the service.
Public safety officials are embracing Smart911 for the assistance it provides to both citizens and emergency responders. According to Sussex County Administrator, Todd F. Lawson: "Public safety is the single biggest, and arguably most important, investment the County makes each year, from our award-winning EMS service and state-of-the-art 911 center to our partnerships with local fire companies and local and State police. We're proud to be able to offer this life- and time-saving service to the people of Sussex County."
Smart911 allows citizens to create a free Safety Profile online for their household that includes information they want 9-1-1 and response teams to have in the event of an emergency. When a citizen makes an emergency call, the Safety Profile automatically displays to the 9-1-1 call-taker, providing important details they would not have otherwise known that can save invaluable time and lives.
"Now fire crews can arrive at a house fire knowing how many people live in the home and the location of bedrooms, EMS can be advised about allergies or specific medical conditions, and police can have a photo of a missing child in seconds, rather than minutes or hours," said Montgomery County Commission Chairman, Elton Dean. "The result is that first responders can do a better job of helping you in case of emergency."
Smart911 is quickly deployed and operates on nearly all PSAP technology combinations. From saving lives during medical emergencies to thwarting home invasions to rescuing stranded motorists, Smart911 has been credited with helping save lives and avert tragedies.
"Public safety and civic leaders are working together to bring Smart911 to their communities in order to provide the best service possible," said Tom Axbey, CEO of Rave Mobile Safety. "We are gratified that it has become the new standard in 9-1-1 operations, and with so many officials advocating for its use, look forward to further helping emergency responders improve citizen safety."
