Electronics recycling is an issue that needs to be promoted en force. C2's founder, Chris Hansen, said, "Electronics Recycling has been going on for decades but is still in its infancy." He continued, "Many people and organizations are unaware of what options are available to dispose of their excess electronics and in many cases they can retain value. Still today most electronics end up in landfills worldwide."
Increasingly many organizations are becoming aware of the need to properly dispose of their excess electronics in an environmentally responsible way. Additionally, they see the need for data security services as data breaches are making headlines on a more frequent basis. C2 Management, www.tryc2.com, was created to battle these issues head-on for firms of all sizes.
All state agencies, localities and public school systems are encouraged to use this new contract to properly dispose of their excess IT equipment. C2 was one of three companies awarded a contract with the Virginia Office of Surplus Property Management (OSPM) to offer electronics recycling to state agencies and other public bodies. Citizens can find good reusable surplus equipment through OSPM. Information about items offered for sale to the public can be found at http://www.dgs.virginia.gov/OfficeofSurplusPropertyManagement.
Electronics recycling is a growing trend and reuse is a big component. Please be mindful of what you are discarding – it may be useful to someone else. Your items may not add up to much but in volume they are threatening our natural resources. Electronics can be recycled but when discarded improperly they can leach lead and many other toxic substances, which can affect our health. Promote electronics recycling to encourage a healthier and brighter future for all!
