Small Planet Airlines selects UTC Aerospace Systems for Customized Interior LED Cabin Lighting
CHARLOTTE, N.C., April 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Small Planet Airlines has selected UTC Aerospace Systems, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX) to retrofit existing fluorescent lighting systems on their Airbus A320 aircraft fleet with LED cabin wash lighting.
The LED wash lights have been installed as part of Small Planet Airlines' cabin refreshment program. UTC Aerospace Systems' LED wash lights provide a 'plug and play' cabin lighting enhancement solution and can be retrofitted without impact to the existing cabin management system or aircraft wiring. The LED system offers increased reliability as well as power and weight reductions in comparison to the fluorescent light technology it replaces.
"Our LED lighting system continues to be an optimal solution for customers like Small Planet Airlines," said Mike Wagner, senior director of Aftermarket for the UTC Aerospace Systems Interiors business unit. "Not only does the LED lighting system alter cabin ambience to dramatically enhance passenger experience, but it is also more durable, reliable and cost effective for airlines."
The UTC Aerospace Systems STC-certified LED lighting system installed on Small Planet Airlines' A320s allows the airline to reinforce their branding by creating personalized cabin color lighting scenes. Small Planet Airlines chose a number of unique color schemes inspired by their logo and seat coverings.
Small Planet Airlines is a modern, forward thinking charter airline that focuses on delivering enhanced passenger service and flying experience. Incorporation of UTC Aerospace Systems' full color LED mood lighting system reflects these core values by providing a modern, inviting cabin environment.
"We are extremely happy with the way in which the LED cabin lighting now adds a fun element enhancing the passenger flying experience on our aircraft, said Erich Ceru, chief technical officer for Small Planet Airlines. "This cabin upgrade program was on a short timetable but UTC Aerospace Systems delivered on their promises with their 'plug and play' lighting system, providing a fast installation retrofit, with no additional aircraft changes required, while giving a dramatic and dynamic refresh to our cabin environment."
