Small Business Takes Center Stage At Women's Business Conference Hosted By NAWBO® And Presented By Bank of America
WASHINGTON, Aug. 26, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Small businesses are an undeniably powerful force in today's economy--creating jobs, driving innovation and increasing global competitiveness. That's why they are taking center stage during a unique luncheon general session sponsored by CHASE on Tuesday, September 9th at the Women's Business Conference 2014. The conference, hosted by the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) and presented by Bank of America, will be at the JW Marriott Indianapolis in Indiana on September 8-9, 2014.
The session brings together some of today's foremost experts on small business and women's entrepreneurship, including JJ Ramberg, host of MSNBC's Your Business; Erin Andrew, director of the Small Business Administration's (SBA) Office of Women's Business Ownership; Susan Duffy, executive director of Babson College's Center for Women's Entrepreneurial Leadership; and Susan Solovic, THE Small Business Expert and co-founder of Small Business Television (SBTV.com). Together, they'll share best practices, tips and trends for success as well as what their organizations are doing to strengthen and propel small business forward.
"I love to be in spaces where smart, 'going places' women convene," says panelist Susan Duffy about why she's excited to participate in this Women's Business Conference session. "I deeply appreciate the power of the work women do together: to share knowledge, inspire each other, lend an ear or shoulder or land on a big, bold idea. Women's gatherings generate a contagious energy of positive forward motion."
About organizations like NAWBO, Susan adds that, "Women's communities are vital to building self-efficacy. Self-efficacy is the confidence that we can be successful--wherever we are in the entrepreneurial journey. By offering role models, creating peer champions and helping members look around and say, 'If she can do it, I can do it,' NAWBO is much more than the sum of its parts. This network of peers, experts and friends is a force that empowers its members to say, 'Yeah, I have this' and then go boldly do it."
The theme of the Women's Business Conference 2014, "The Power of YOU," is designed to help women entrepreneurs power their business, lifestyle and community. The event features breakout sessions on the most current business and professional lifestyle topics, an exhibit hall packed with networking opportunities and resources and keynotes by sisters Katherine Kallinis Berman and Sophie Kallinis LaMontagne, co-founders of Georgetown Cupcake and stars of the hit series DC Cupcakes on TLC, and Muffy Davis, a three-time Paralympic Gold medalist and highly sought after motivational speaker.
"So many of the thousands of women-owned businesses that make up our NAWBO community are small businesses with fewer than 500 employees," says Darla Beggs, Chair of the NAWBO National Board of Directors and President of Abba Staffing and Consulting in Dallas/Fort Worth, TX. "These women-owned businesses are part of a much greater community of almost 28 million small businesses across the U.S. today that are the backbone of the U.S. economy. They employ over 50 percent of today's working population--122 million people--and have generated 65 percent of new jobs since 1995. We're proud to dedicate one of our conference general sessions to this important and growing business segment."
