Small-Business expert says key to Affordable Care Act replacement is affordability, coverage for pre-existing conditions and State-regulated tailoring
Trion Solutions' Craig Vanderburg says, "Healthcare-insurance costs will continue to skyrocket and the future of healthcare in our country is bleak without insurance reform for individuals and Small Business"
TROY, Mich., Sept. 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Unprecedented increases in health-insurance premiums will continue to cripple individuals and Small Business because the Affordable Care Act mandate isn't punitive enough to encourage the healthy and young, among others, to purchase healthcare insurance. Therefore, a greater percentage of an insurance company's customer base consists of the ill and diseased.
This isn't sustainable and will lead to continued, massive increases in insurance premiums, according to Craig Vanderburg, chief operating officer at Trion Solutions, Inc., a Professional Employer Organization (PEO) that works with more than 500 small- and medium-sized businesses to manage their payroll, human resources and benefits.
As Congress considers once again repealing and replacing the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, Vanderburg feels that it is a fallacy that healthcare insurance must be "one size fits all." He considers the key to a more effective system is allowing it to be tailored and regulated at the state level. "Too many geo-specific needs exist across the country to realistically expect that a single, nationally set insurance program will work for everyone."
"It will be difficult to obtain support for a single health-insurance solution that is imposed nationally," said Vanderburg. "Individuals and small businesses cannot escape the double-edged sword of requiring healthcare coverage and determining how to make it affordable."
According to Vanderburg, this time Congress might finally agree to repeal and replace the ACA, after failed attempts earlier this year. If not this time, according to Vanderburg, it may be the final opportunity during the current term of the Trump Administration.
