Slacker was introduced to Shawn Hook in Toronto during Slacker Canadian Music Week 2012. After recording three "1-take" tracks that can be seen and heard on Slacker's YouTube channel, they teamed and set up an impromptu performance for an unsuspecting crowd in the hotel lobby of Toronto's Fairmont Royal York Hotel.
Slacker invited Shawn Hook to visit their studio to hand-program his own Artist Showcase station. Shawn performed several incredible acoustic performances in the studio and selected hundreds of his favorite songs for the station, while recording personal stories and candid commentary that can be heard throughout the station. Bands and artists on the Shawn Hook Showcase include Elton John, Jeff Buckley, Deadmau5, Beastie Boys and more. In addition, music from his debut album, Cosmonaut and the Girl, is also featured on the station – including Canadian Billboard Hot 100 single "Every Red Light."
"When I was asked to put together my own station for Slacker Radio, I was really excited. I basically put together the playlist of my life – every song means something personal to me," said Shawn Hook. "I remember where I was, who I was with and what I was doing the first time I heard each song. I guess that's why we all love great music, and I can't think of a better way to enjoy music than Slacker Radio."

About Shawn Hook
Shawn Hook's EMI Music debut, Cosmonaut and the Girl, out on May 8, says a lot about the artist, his direction and the music. Blessed with a stratospheric vocal range, heard right off the bat on the lead track, "Planet Earth," and particularly on "Rockstaria," the pianist and guitarist from Nelson, British Columbia shot for the stars on this recording, adding modern electronic elements to his organic singer-songwriter base. The album, produced by Jon Levine (The Philosopher Kings, Nelly Furtado, Kreesha Turner), is a constellation of electro-spiked pop, like meteors of Paul McCartney and Elton John hurling through space collecting particles of One Republic and Muse. The first single, "Every Red Light," is a pumping race to get to your girl, while new single "So Close" offers a more inspirational message and was recently featured in promo spots on Global Television for Kiefer Sutherland's new hit show Touch.
