Skyhorse to get Flippin' Awesome: Indie Publisher to Release First Book on Water Bottle Flipping Phenomenon
NEW YORK, Oct. 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- As children and adults across the country go crazy over flipping half-empty water bottles, Skyhorse Publishing, Inc. has decided it's high time to publish the first book on the subject. Titled Flippin' Awesome! Water Bottle Flip Games, Tricks, & Stunts for Everyone, the book is due in bookstores and online November 8.
"Bottle-flipping is becoming a hot new trend with kids and teens," said Jason Schneider, editorial director of Racehorse Publishing, a division of Skyhorse that publishes books within a month of their conception. "This book will explore tips, tricks as well as twelve different games to play with your water bottles."
Written by Sarah Doughty, Flippin' Awesome! is a "how to" book that features a wide variety of bottle-flipping games on six double-sided, tear-out posters, along with rules for each game and information on the physics behind the flip, various trick shots and stunts, and twenty-four tear-out score sheets.
The water bottle flipping phenomenon has gained traction following scores of videos posted on YouTube featuring bottle flippers, one wackier than the next. Some of the videos have been viewed over three million times.
The trend was also recently featured on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and detailed in an article in The Boston Globe. "For kids, the draw is simple," writes The Boston Globe. "Even in an age of digital distractions, this diversion is quick, it's portable, and while the science behind it is actually fairly elaborate – water, angular momentum, and gravity paving the way for a soft landing—it requires no training."
Racehorse, launched in 2015, has published such books as the Donald Trump Coloring Book and the Hillary Clinton Coloring Book, both brought to market in six weeks. Other titles from the speedy imprint are: Coloring for Everyone: Exotic Chickens; Coloring for Everyone: Nature's Wonders; and Coloring for Everyone: Butterfly Gardens.
Free State of Jones, another Racehorse quick book, was printed and released within a month, in time for the film's premiere.
Racehorse also publishes classic books via its Clydesdale Classics imprint, including The Scarlet Letter, Twelve Years a Slave, Beowulf, and My Antonia.
