Skyhorse Publishing Partners with the Boy Scouts of America
NEW YORK, Sept. 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Skyhorse Publishing is proud to announce a new partnership with the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) to publish a variety of BSA titles covering topics such as survival, hiking, camping, fishing, first aid, and more. The books will target not only current and former Scouts but also anyone with an interest in the outdoors.
"We are delighted to team up with such a well-established and prestigious organization as the Boy Scouts of America, and look forward to publishing books with them for many years to come," said Jay Cassell, Editorial Director at Skyhorse Publishing.
For years, Skyhorse has published practical outdoor books aimed at outdoorsmen and women of all ages. These books will be a centerpiece of a program that has proven to be a perennial for both traditional and nontraditional retailers. Skyhorse will work with the BSA to develop books that will stimulate readers, be fun and profitable for retailers, and live up to the Boy Scouts' motto to always Be Prepared. For life.
The BSA's goal is to train youth in responsible citizenship, character development, and self-reliance through participation in a wide range of outdoor activities, educational programs, and, at older age levels, career-oriented programs in partnership with community organizations. For younger members, the Scout method is part of the program to instill typical Scouting values such as trustworthiness, good citizenship, and outdoors skills through a variety of activities such as camping, aquatics, and hiking.
Skyhorse Publishing, one of the fastest-growing independent book publishers in the United States, was launched in September 2006 by Tony Lyons, former president and publisher of the Lyons Press. Lyons is dedicated to publishing books that make people's lives better, whether that means teaching them a hobby, bringing them a unique and important story, or encouraging them to fight against injustices, conspiracies, or abuses of power.
