"Presently, we are beta testing use of the APEX simulator in select Skip Barber Racing School programs here at Road Atlanta. Use of the advanced 3DOF (pitch, roll, yaw) APEX simulator allows students to experience race car dynamics at track speed before getting out onto the circuit, the APEX allows for a sequential learning process that has been in place for decades in aviation. This type of technology is a big step towards more efficient and economical driver training and demonstrates Skip Barber Racing School as the continued leader in our industry," stated Don Harple, Director of Schools for Skip Barber Racing School.
The APEX is a professional racing simulator which leverages SimCraft motion technology at a price to performance ratio previously unattainable in the simulation market. The affordability and superior performance of the APEX allows for classroom integration of motion simulation as Skip Barber Racing School continues to enhance their programs, maintaining their position as the premier racing school in the country.
The APEX simulator will be running the Skip Barber Formula 2000 on iRacing, allowing students to drive the identical car that is utilized by Skip Barber Racing School. This allows for a simulation that mimics the vehicle, tracks and techniques of driving needed to be successful in the school and racing environment.
The partnership kicked off during the 2010 Petit LeMans in front of a record crowd. The motion simulator was an integral part of Skip Barber Racing School's presence in the vendor area and drew huge crowds the entire week. Key to the partnership will be the availability of a special edition Skip Barber Racing School APEX. This special edition version of the APEX will be adorned in Skip Barber Racing School colors and will include features unique to this special edition. The Skip Barber Racing School APEX will be available December 2010.
