Today, Monday, May 14, Fred Jordan Mission, will be transformed into a Skid Row Spa for Poor & Homeless Women, offering shampoos and hair styling, manicures, and make up application. More than 200 professional hair stylists, manicurists and make-up artists will volunteer their time and skills to treat struggling mothers from Skid Row and the inner city to a complete beauty makeover, helping to restore their dignity and self-confidence.  

Fred Jordan Mission was the first to introduce Mother's Makeover Day to Skid Row 24 years ago, and since then this unique event has served more than 10,000 homeless, impoverished women.

A Spa Day for moms in the suburbs is a treat. But for hundreds of inner city mothers, the Mission's annual Spa Day will literally be a miracle! They will experience the miracle of the transforming power of love here on the streets of Skid Row. Women who struggle every day simply to feed their children will be pampered with professional beauty services normally found only in the high end salons. They will be treated to shampoos with high quality hair products, hair styling, make-up application, and beautiful manicures.

While moms are enjoying a Spa Day of pampering, their children will be treated to a day of fun and games - - as well as pint-size shampoos and haircuts. And since feeding hungry families is a priority at the Fred Jordan Mission, the day will conclude with good food for all.

Each mom will leave the Mission with fresh flowers and bulging gift bags filled with unimaginable treats they could never afford to purchase - - shampoos, conditioners, creams, lotions, make-up, nail polish, and even lipstick!
