Sixth Annual A World In Motion® International JetToy Competition Winners Announced
WARRENDALE, Pa., April 26, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- SAE International hosted the sixth annual A World In Motion® (AWIM) International JetToy Competition on Wednesday, April 25, in Detroit. The challenge focused on explaining scientific concepts to K-12 students in an easily approachable, hands-on environment.
Sponsored by Johnson Controls, Bosch and TRW, the competition challenged 500 upper elementary students working in engineer design teams to construct JetToy vehicles using only materials supplied on the day of the event. The competition was judged in four categories: accuracy, distance, time and weight carrying abilities.
With the assistance of teachers and industry professional volunteers, the JetToy Competition showed students the practical applications of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) in real world situations.
