"Our collection of rides and attractions is quite diverse and Tsunami Soaker is the only one of its kind on the West Coast. This is truly an invigorating new addition for guests of all ages to engage, play and interact with one another," said Don McCoy, park president. "One of the best features is the individual water cannons that riders and observers can use to douse one another. We predict a lot of water battles among guests."
Invited guests were on hand today to preview Tsunami Soaker with a friendly, yet cautionary, warning that they would get "soaked." The unanimous opinion was this: "soaked" may be an understatement - guests were absolutely drenched. Selfies were encouraged to post with the hashtag #SOAKED which will be used all summer long.
The ride features nine boats that rotate, allowing its 54 riders to use individual water cannons to continually spray at one another. Even bystanders can aim water cannons at the riders and get wet at the same time. A unique feature of the ride is the flooring, which disappears after riders are boarded. As the floor descends, water fills around the boats that actually float as they rotate.
As part of the park's ongoing efforts to conserve water, the ride recirculates as much water as is feasible, except of course, what is left on guests.
