NEW YORK, Sept. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- SIRIUS XM Radio (Nasdaq: SIRI) announced today that it will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with performances, interviews and specials with many of the biggest artists in Latin music now through Saturday, October 16 on Caliente, SIRIUS channel 83 and XM channel 85; Real Jazz, SIRIUS channel 72 and XM channel 70; and Symphony Hall, SIRIUS channel 80 and XM channel 78.

The special programming will include interviews with many Grammy® Award-winning artists such as Shakira, Emilio Estefan and Daddy Yankee on Caliente. During the interview with Daddy Yankee listeners will have access to an in-depth look into his most recent album, Mundial, which earlier this month received multiple nominations for the 2010 Latin Grammy® Awards, including a nomination in the category of "Best Urban Music Album. "The Daddy Yankee special interview and in-depth album tour will air on Friday, October 1 at 4:00 pm ET and will be rebroadcast on Sunday, October 3 at 4:00 pm ET. Daddy Yankee will also host his "Top 10 Favorite Songs" special on Saturday, October 2 at 3:00 pm ET.
Caliente's weekly show featuring classic Salsa music, La Vieja Escuela, will dedicate four shows to prominent Latinos such as Ralph Mercado and Larry Harlow of the legendary salsa label Fania Records. In a very special edition, listeners will hear from actor and salsa legend Ruben Blades as he discusses his humble beginnings from working at the mailroom at Fania, his journey from Harvard to Hollywood and his Grammy winning music. La Vieja Escuela featuring Ruben Blades will air Saturday, October 9 at 9:00 am ET on Caliente.
Caliente listeners will also hear concert performances by Latin Grammy winners and nominees, including Pitbull, Juanes, Victor Manuelle, Jon Secada, and El Gran Combo. Additional performances include Tito Nieves, Oscar DeLeon and Cristian Castro Saturdays at 3:00 pm ET.
In recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month, SIRIUS XM's Real Jazz channel will devote every Friday evening to Latin Jazz. At 9:00 pm ET every Friday, listeners will hear exclusive live performances from Latin Jazz legends such as Arturo Sandoval, on Friday, October 1 at 9:00 pm ET, and Poncho Sanchez, on Friday, October 15 at 9:00 pm ET.
Symphony Hall will feature a musical profile of 27-year old Mexican conductor Alondra de la Parra, the first Mexican woman to conduct in New York City. Ms. De la Parra, who has been heralded by Placido Domingo, will talk about her new album, Mi Alma Mexicana, and the deep cultural melting pot that has shaped Mexican classical music. The special will air on Friday, September 24 at 6:00 pm ET with an encore broadcast on Monday, September 27 at 9:00 pm ET.
