SEATTLE, Nov. 19, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Sioeye Inc., a company dedicated to creating innovative ways to share extreme sports experiences, today introduced the Sioeye Iris4G™ live streaming action camera on Kickstarter. The Sioeye Iris4G is the first unlocked 4G LTE action camera integrating a high-performance smart capture device with live streaming cloud services and interactive mobile applications enabling extreme sports enthusiasts to share their experiences in real-time.
The Sioeye Iris4G takes the action camera into the new era of connected devices. Extreme sports enthusiasts will be able to broadcast their adventures in real-time with a single press of the Sioeye Livecapture™ button or through the mobile apps. Alerts are automatically sent to the broadcaster's network and public notifications can optionally be sent out via Twitter and Facebook. Friends, family and fans can join in the action through the Sioeye mobile applications for Android and iOS, the Sioeye web application and Sioeye web player. Live streaming videos are automatically saved in the cloud and available for instant replay, eliminating the hassles of offloading videos from the camera and uploading files for sharing.
The Sioeye Iris4G is an unlocked device ready for a micro-SIM with an active data plan from one of the currently supported carriers including T-Mobile and AT&T. Additional wireless network support is planned for the United States, Canada, Mexico and other geographies in 2016.
The Sioeye Iris4G is built upon an octa-core CPU running Android 4.4, which provides a smart platform for live video streaming and experience sharing. The Sioeye Iris4G goes beyond voice and video with embedded GPS, barometer, gyro and magnetic sensors to detect and capture the overall experience, enabling users to share not only what they see but also what they feel. Called Sioeye Livestats™, the experience information is broadcast along with the video stream providing real-time visual information on speed and altitude of the broadcaster. The Sioeye Iris4G intelligently configures the live stream resolution based upon the network speed. Broadcasters can also choose to simultaneously record HD video to microSD while live streaming.
The Sioeye Iris4G is a smart-device running the Android operating system. Third party developers will be able to create on-camera applications leveraging GPS information and real-time statistics to connect devices together, create games between users and integrate with existing web-based applications. Sport specific applications for skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking and paragliding are currently in development.
"Imagine being able to share your extreme sports adventures in real time, without the hassles of downloading, editing, and uploading your videos," said David Abramowski, GM, Sioeye Inc. "The Sioeye Iris4G enables just that, filling a void in the action camera market. Using lightning-fast 4GLTE connectivity, an Android platform for developers to easily create apps, and data from experience sensors, the Sioeye Iris4G action camera is uniquely different from others that have come before it."
The Sioeye Iris4G is being introduced through a Kickstarter campaign and planned for delivery in Q1, 2016. The Sioeye Iris4G has an expected MSRP of $499 including the camera with battery and 1GB onboard storage, rugged waterproof case, multi-purpose surface mount, and a one-year premium subscription to the Sioeye Cloud. (4G LTE SIM card and data plans are not included).
