SingleHop Opens 2,000+ Server Data Center in Europe - Sees Overwhelming Demand for Amsterdam-based Infrastructure-as-a-Service
SingleHop Solutions Available Through the Amsterdam Location Including Dedicated Servers, Managed Services, and White Label Solutions
CHICAGO and AMSTERDAM, June 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- SingleHop, a global leader in highly automated dedicated servers, cloud computing, and infrastructure-as-a-service, announced today the official grand opening of its new Amsterdam data center. The new facility, announced last month, is built to meet growing demand for high-quality, automated infrastructure, and hosting services from organizations operating in Europe, Asia, and North Africa.
According to a summer 2012 report from global market intelligence firm IDC titled "Quantitative Estimates of the Demand for Cloud computing in Europe and the Likely Barriers to Uptake," the demand for public cloud services will grow from representing 1.6% of European Union IT spending in 2011 to approximately 3.6% in 2014, and 9% by 2020, representing substantial increases in adoption and demand.
In early April, SingleHop announced plans to open the facility and allowed customers to reserve server space ahead of time. More than seventy five percent of the initial data center capacity was reserved before the facility opened.
"We are very pleased by what we have been seeing. Since announcing the data center, we've been flooded with requests from hosting services providers, systems integrators, game developers, and a variety of digital startups. These types of organizations are core to our company as a whole, and represent the types of clients that benefit most from our highly automated and natively hybrid platform," commented Zak Boca, Chief Executive Officer of SingleHop.
Amsterdam was selected as the site for SingleHop's new data center for a number of reasons. Among them are the existing high-capacity fiber infrastructure, the presence of numerous top-tier network providers, and the city's large and technically skilled workforce. The new facility includes all of the security protocols found at the company's U.S. locations including five layers of physical security, 24-hour on-site staffing, and the latest biometrics-based access controls. Additionally, all of the company's current services will be offered through the new data center, including dedicated servers, and managed services. The facility is powered by SingleHop's award-winning LEAP3 platform.
"Our launch in Amsterdam shows our commitment to reducing latency, and improving our overall customer experience. Significant portions of our growth already come from clients outside of the US; a trend we expect to continue as demand for highly automated infrastructure services increases in Europe and beyond. Over the coming years, we will continue support our international customers by expanding our platform into additional new markets," added Andy Pace, Chief Operating Officer of SingleHop.
