Terry Hitchcock of the Award-Winning Documentary Film, "My Run," Will Serve As Honorary Chairman for the Event
DALLAS, April 25, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Single Parent Advocate, a non-profit organization dedicated to the empowerment and support of single parent families, will host an exclusive Live Art and Silent Auction Fundraiser at Colliers International, 1717 McKinney Avenue, on the ninth floor of the tower, April 30, 2011, at 7:00 p.m. Terry Hitchcock, whose inspiring story was recently featured in the award-winning "My Run" documentary movie, will serve as Honorary Chairperson. The fundraiser will include a live auction featuring artwork by local Dallas artists and a silent auction of items donated by businesses in the Dallas community. Title sponsors include Colliers International, Southwest Airlines and the Marriott Quorum Hotel. The primary goal of the event is to raise immediate support and assistance, at a level of $1,000 for each of twenty-five North Texas families faced with the challenges of single parent family living.
According to Single Parent Advocate Founder and Director Stacie Martin, "We're looking forward to a great turnout. With this and other fundraisers, we hope to provide families with financial support, clothing, food, school supplies and other much-needed items over the course of the year." She went on to say, "Our organization was founded as a result of my own personal trials as a single parent. I know first-hand how sudden life changes, fear of the unknown, depression and more can lead to feelings of total isolation. Single Parent Advocate is here to tell these parents that they're not alone. We're with them every step of the way, with a passionate desire to give them true hope and real help." Although the organization is less than a year old, Single Parent Advocate already has been featured in the media, and has major affiliations with such organizations as Big Brothers & Big Sisters, The YMCA, Success North Dallas and more.
The Single Parent Advocate Art and Silent Auction Fundraiser is one of several upcoming events designed to raise funds for single parent families' needs. The April 30th Live Art and Silent Auction Fundraiser at Colliers International is by invitation only, but open to the media. Hors d'oeuvres and cocktails will be served.
