Roundtable Discussion of Chicago Leaders and Annual Meeting Featuring Keynote Speaker Howard Tullman, CEO of 1871
CHICAGO, Oct. 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Health care innovation in today's environment needs to be more than the newest gadget – it is therapies, technologies and methods of administration all centered on improving patient outcomes, reducing costs, and enhancing the overall patient experience. United under the banner Advancing Health Care Delivery for All, Sinai Health System is hosting a gathering of esteemed leaders to discuss new strategies that both advance the health of its community and are sustainable during a time of health care transformation.
"With health care reform and the rapid proliferation of technology and innovation in health care, Sinai Health System faces a uniquely exciting period and I am thrilled to have such notable Chicago-based leaders join us to examine sustainable changes," said Karen Teitelbaum, president and CEO, Sinai Health System. "Today's discussion explores other avenues to introduce innovation that should be leveraged by a wide range of health care systems that serve all communities."
The roundtable discussion moderated by Steven A. Gould, M.D., Interim Executive Director, Chicago Innovation Mentors, features panelists Eric Langshur, Founder and CEO, AVIA; Steve Collens, CEO, Matter; Scott Vold, CEO, Fibroblast; and John Vozenilek, MD, Chief Medical Officer of the Jump Trading Simulation, University of Illinois College Of Medicine.
"I want to thank Sinai Health System for inviting me to participate in what promises to be an exciting discussion," said Dr. Gould. "Advancing health care delivery in the Chicago area with an urgency on reaching all communities, including those served by Sinai Health System, requires the engagement of many to achieve the population health priorities that are key to health care sustainability. We are fortunate to have a panel of experts working at the forefront of health care innovation in Chicago."
Addressing the Sinai Health System annual meeting later in the day, Howard Tullman, CEO of 1871, will provide perspective on changing culture and how to adapt, as well as offer important insights that can be applied to Sinai Health System and almost any new or evolving venture.
"Sinai Health System is a prime example of innovation in action and leadership in health care delivery in an urban environment," said Tullman. "1871 is driven by our belief that focusing on what's next is critical to fueling continued innovation."
Sinai Health System continues to transform the community by providing quality health care while addressing social determinants of health like access to jobs, interrupting violence and improving neighborhood safety. Through Sinai Health System's Sinai Community Institute and Urban Health Institute, the organization never stops working to better understand the needs of its community, providing beneficial community programs and turning urban epidemiological findings at the neighborhood level into innovative treatment.
"We are committed to making lives better for our community," said Teitelbaum.
