Simpson Healthcare Races with Heart at 2017 Hartford Half Marathon
OLD LYME, Conn., Oct. 24, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Simpson Healthcare Executives announced that the Simpson Healthcare Running Team raced in the 2017 Hartford Half Marathon this past weekend. The 2017 Hartford Half Marathon was a 13.1-mile run located in Hartford, Connecticut and was a key moment for our running team and for our agency. The Simpson Healthcare Running Team is composed of many members internally who are committed to improving their health and wellness, and to supporting and encouraging their colleagues in their day-to-day lives. Each employee running with Simpson Healthcare supported a charity of their choice in the half marathon; charities which included: Hospital for Special Care, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Fidelco Guide Dogs, and the CT Children's Medical Center, to name a few.
The Simpson Healthcare Running Team has been training for the 2017 Hartford Half Marathon for many months, running together after work 3 or 4 times per week since early March. We set our fitness goals early on and scaled our workouts to work on our paces using the 21kRunner app created by Fitness22. The half marathon was a huge victory for our team, which included: Abe Amin, Director of Technology, AJ Zullo, PhD, Senior Medical Director, Erin Conlan, Managing Director, Fenna Calder, SVP, Client Services, Lisa Fisher, Senior Graphic Designer, Tiffany Kleefeld, Chief Communications Officer, and Kimberly Algiere.
Our team has come to the realization that so much of exercise—especially long distance running—is a mental challenge. We had to dig deep to persevere and find the determination to never stop asking for more of ourselves and our team. We are proud to say we know what it feels like to train, to boldly and courageously step forward at the starting line, and to cross the finish line together.
