Simmons College Named a "Best College" By U.S.News & World Report, The Princeton Review, and Forbes.com
BOSTON, Sept. 12, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Simmons College has been named a "Best College" by U.S.News & World Report in its 2013 edition of the "America's Best Colleges" guidebook. Simmons ranked in the top tier of schools in the Regional Universities North category.
This is the third premier rankings organization to cite Simmons for excellence in the past two months. Simmons was featured in The Princeton Review's 2013 college guidebook as one of the nation's "Best 377 Colleges" and was named by Forbes.com as one of "American's 650 Top Colleges" in 2012.
In addition to its ranking, U.S.News also included Simmons in the "A+ Schools for B Students," the Regional Universities North category, a designation for having distinctive programs that also serve a "broad, engaged student body."
"Recognition by these organizations is external validation of the strong academic programs we provide at Simmons," said Simmons College President Helen Drinan. U.S.News & World Report is recognized as one of the premier college ranking organizations. The 2013 rankings include data on more than 1,400 accredited four-year schools, comparing them by a set of 16 indicators of academic quality including peer assessment, graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, and alumni giving. The 2013 edition of the Best Colleges guidebook is available at USNews.com and will be on newsstands September 18.
The Princeton Review's "Best 377 Colleges" 2013 college guidebook cited Simmons as an institution that equips students with the "tools and confidence to succeed in the real world." The guidebook said that Simmons has a focus on "experiential learning and leadership" and a curriculum that "excels at educating women for positions of power and principled leadership." In the Forbes.com ranking, Simmons was among a select group of more than 650 colleges, representing 20% of the nearly 4,000 colleges in the United States.
