Sim Osborn, Attorney Representing Reyes Family, Comments on Dismissal of Wenatchee High School P.E. Teacher
SEATTLE, April 28, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Sim Osborn, the attorney representing Wenatchee High School drowning victim Antonio Reyes, today issued a statement regarding the dismissal of Ed Knaggs, Wenatchee High School P.E. teacher.
"I have shared the news of Ed Knaggs' dismissal with the Reyes family. Knaggs was the Wenatchee High School physical education teacher who oversaw the class in which Antonio Reyes drowned.
"Antonio's parents, his twin brother and the rest of the family are struggling to cope with Antonio's senseless and needless death.
"We are all certainly interested in the school's actions. We've been attempting to work with the school district to learn the truth about the circumstances that led to Antonio's drowning, and to find some resolution to the civil case, but have found the school district to be largely uncooperative and unsympathetic.
"We hope that the school is not trying to make Knaggs some kind of scapegoat – while his actions played a role in this tragedy, the school system's complete failure to create and follow even a basic safety plan at the pool should be the primary focus of the case. We intend to continue pursuing our case until we get answers and a just resolution for the Reyes family."
