Silverman, Thompson, Slutkin & White Hon. Joseph F. Murphy (Ret.) Wins Prestigious Eney Award

BALTIMORE, Aug. 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Silverman, Thompson, Slutkin & White member the Hon. Joseph F. Murphy (Ret.) became the twenty-third recipient of the H. Vernon Eney Endowment Fund Award. The Maryland Bar Foundation presented the award on June 15, 2012.

The Maryland Bar Association presents the award to an individual who has "demonstrated outstanding leadership in working to improve government and the administration of justice." Past winners include U.S. Senator Benjamin L. Cardin, Gov. William Donald Schaefer, and the Hon. Robert C. Murphy.

Since his arrival Judge Murphy has significantly expanded Silverman Thompson's mediation efforts.

Judge Murphy was appointed to the Baltimore County Circuit Court in 1984 and then the Court of Special Appeals in 1993, where he became chief judge in 1996.

In 2007, he was named to the Court of Appeals.

Prior to his work on the bench, Murphy practiced as a staff attorney for Legal Aid, served as an assistant state's attorney for Baltimore City and was a partner at the Towson firm White & Murphy.

Judge Murphy has taught evidence at University of Baltimore School of Law since 1974 and trial practice at University of Maryland since 1984.
