SAN FRANCISCO, June 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Siluria Technologies (www.siluria.com) announced today that it has entered into a strategic partnership with Air Liquide Global E&C Solutions, the engineering and construction business of the Air Liquide Group, to collaborate on the development of novel catalytic processes utilizing both companies' expertise in gas conversion technologies.
The novel process offering will be developed using the proven innovation platform that has given rise to Siluria's revolutionary Oxidative Coupling of Methane ("OCM") technology, but will be focused on entirely new fields beyond the companies' current product offerings. Siluria and Air Liquide Global E&C Solutions have agreed to work as partners in the commercialization, including marketing and licensing, of the jointly developed process technologies resulting from the collaboration.
"Global markets require compelling new solutions to meet the ever changing demand for petrochemicals and other energy products," said Erik Scher, Siluria's Interim CEO and President. "We are currently commercializing our game-changing OCM technology, which is the first product of our proprietary innovation engine, an engine comprised of a seasoned team of scientists, engineers and business innovators, and our unsurpassed capabilities in nanomaterials, catalysis, process engineering and technology scale-up. We are thrilled to partner with Air Liquide Global E&C Solutions, a recognized leader in process and plant design, engineering, construction and operations, with a truly global reach, to jointly develop and bring next generation technologies to market."
Domenico D'Elia, Vice President and Chairman, Air Liquide Global E&C Solutions, stated, "Through targeted investments, strategic partnerships and innovation, Air Liquide's engineering and construction business is addressing the market's ever changing requirements. We are thrilled to partner with Siluria Technologies, whose team has already achieved breakthrough innovation, to jointly develop and bring sustainable next generation technologies to our customers."
As part of the agreement to collaborate on novel process technologies, Air Liquide Global E&C Solutions has invested in Siluria's Series E financing. Siluria is proud to add Air Liquide to its world-class set of strategic investors.
Since it's founding in 2009, Siluria has executed on a vision to better utilize the limited carbon resources by providing disruptive catalytic solutions to address the petrochemicals and energy industries most challenging opportunities. Siluria's first novel technology enables the direct conversion of natural gas to ethylene via the Oxidative Coupling of Methane. This technology also provides the industry's first and only solution of small-scale on-purpose and distributed scale ethylene production. Siluria is currently focused on commercial projects in the Refining and Midstream industries, and a pipeline of licensing projects in petrochemicals.
About Siluria:
Siluria Technologies is pioneering the commercial production of fuels and chemicals made from clean, abundant natural gas. Siluria's proprietary technologies address the global petrochemical industry's complex challenges of volatile commodity prices, shifting supply and demand patterns, stricter environmental regulations, and capitally intensive conventional technologies.
Siluria's breakthrough Oxidative Coupling of Methane ("OCM") process is the first commercially-viable process to directly convert methane into ethylene. Siluria's second process technology can convert ethylene to liquid fuels, such as gasoline, diesel or jet fuel. Both processes enable natural gas to supplement petroleum as the worldwide basis for transportation fuels and commodity chemicals. Siluria's revolutionary catalyst and process technologies uniquely combine nanomaterials, catalyst development, and chemical engineering, to convert natural gas into higher-value products through efficient processes that can be seamlessly integrated into existing industry infrastructure.
