SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 21, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Siluria Technologies (www.siluria.com), a leading innovator of process technologies for the energy and petrochemical industries, today announced the appointment of Dr. Erik C. Scher as the company's Chief Operating Officer.
Dr. Scher, a Siluria co-founder, served as Executive Vice President prior to assuming the Interim CEO and President role at the end of 2015. During Dr. Scher's tenure as Interim CEO, Siluria formed key strategic partnerships with Maire Tecnimont and Air Liquide Global Solutions E&C and successfully closed its Series E financing round.
"In the last nine months, the entire company worked to advance our proprietary technology while adding projects to our commercial pipeline," said Dr. Scher. "We are very excited to bring on Robert Trout to lead the team during commercialization of our OCM technology and expansion of our sustainable platform for developing and scaling innovative process technologies."
As COO, Dr. Scher is responsible for the company's operating activities, including its OCM demonstration plant in Texas and multiple pilot plants in California, and leading its research and development, scale-up, intellectual property, and technology teams. Dr. Scher will also work with Siluria's strategic partners to commercialize its process technology offerings.
"Erik's leadership has been critical to Siluria's success since the company's inception," said Robert Trout, Siluria's CEO and President. "I look forward to working together with Erik in his new role as we build on Siluria's many accomplishments to date."
About Siluria:
Siluria Technologies is pioneering the commercial production of fuels and chemicals made from clean, abundant natural gas. Siluria's proprietary technologies address the global petrochemical industry's complex challenges of volatile commodity prices, shifting supply and demand patterns, stricter environmental regulations, and capitally intensive conventional technologies.
Siluria's breakthrough Oxidative Coupling of Methane ("OCM") process is the first commercially-viable process to directly convert methane into ethylene. Siluria's second process technology can convert ethylene to liquid fuels, such as gasoline, diesel or jet fuel. Both processes enable natural gas to supplement petroleum as the worldwide basis for transportation fuels and commodity chemicals.
Siluria's innovation platform continues to drive breakthroughs in process technologies. Previously solely focused on producing ethylene and gasoline from natural gas, Siluria's platform has now expanded to target further addressable markets through broader feedstock slates, and additional valuable petrochemical products. Siluria's revolutionary catalyst and process technologies uniquely combine nanomaterials, catalyst development, and chemical engineering, to convert low value carbon sources into higher-value products through efficient processes that can be seamlessly integrated into existing industry infrastructure.
