Silly Billy's Toy Shop Takes Part in Calderdale Rising
HEBDEN BRIDGE, England, January 15, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
Silly Billy's Toy Shop, An Independent Toy Shop, is taking part in Calderdale Rising, a crowdfunding campaign to help support a number of the 1,250 businesses across Calderdale that were heavily affected by the 2015 Boxing Day floods.
Launching today (Friday 15th January 2015) at 12:26pm, the campaign is headed up by Business for Calderdale and supported by other business groups in the area. Over 70 businesses are taking part in the scheme, ranging from high street shops to professional services and firms in the industrial sector, many of which are still unable to open.
Crowdfunding initiatives are different from traditional charity donations as they allow people to not only donate, but also to buy rewards. The rewards will include products showcasing the businesses involved, "money can't buy" experiences, alongside a Hebden Supporters Card offering a 20% discount in a number of shops in the town, and various other perks.
The money raised by the campaign will be shared between all the businesses taking part in the scheme.
Bill Deakin, Proprietor, at Silly Billy's Toy Shop, said, "The Boxing Day floods have massively impacted on our business as well as many others in the area. We received great support during the clean up operation but now we need funding to get back on our feet. We are pleased and thankful to be taking part in the Calderdale Rising Crowdfunding scheme and we hope that many people will get behind ourselves and our fellow businesses to help raise the funds we so desperately need."
The Calderdale region, particularly areas such as; Todmorden, Hebden Bridge, Copley, Brighouse, Elland, Sowerby Bridge and Mytholmroyd were devastated by the flooding and still require funds and services to help them re-establish. So far, fundraising for the 2,573 residents, co-ordinated through Community Foundation for Calderdale, has exceeded £700,000, which is expected to be matched, pound for pound, through the Government's match funding scheme.
