Silicon Valley Employers Anticipate Hiring Increase in Q1
Number of employers planning to increase hiring in 2010 continues to rise
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Jan. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- The greater part of Silicon Valley employers anticipate their hiring needs remaining steady or increasing in Q1, according to the West Valley Staffing Group Economic Forecast Survey.
West Valley Staffing Group (WVSG) surveys a range of hiring managers throughout Silicon Valley each quarter about their upcoming hiring needs. The hiring managers come from many industries, including high tech, medical, energy, finance, semiconductors, and manufacturing, etc. Each participant was asked, "Do you expect your hiring needs to increase, remain steady, or decrease in the next quarter and beyond?"
The vast majority (91%) of the companies surveyed believed their hiring will either remain steady or increase in Q1, compared to 70% last quarter, which is a significant increase of 30%! Only 9% said their hiring may decrease this quarter, a massive improvement from 30% last quarter.
"Many signs indicate that the economy is beginning to improve," says Mike Williams, President and CEO of West Valley Staffing Group. "Compared to this time last year, 75% more companies are reporting their hiring will either remain flat or increase in Q1. We're heading in the right direction, though many companies still remain cautious in regards to their hiring."
