BERKELEY, Calif., May 1, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The 16th annual Silicon Valley Boomer Venture Summit and Business Plan Competition will return to the Claremont Club and Spa June 5th and 6th. The theme "Design, Innovation and Investment in the Longevity Marketplace," is produced by Mary Furlong & Associates (MFA). This year's Summit is executive produced by Mary Furlong and co-produced by Lori Bitter, President/Senior Strategist for The Business of Aging, and Julia Rasooly, CEO and Founder of PuraCath Medical Inc.
The 2019 Summit features two pitch events. The deadline to submit plans is May 10 at 5 p.m. ET. The judges include angel investors, early stage and growth stage firms, and distribution partners all focused on investment in the longevity economy. This includes: John Hopper, Chief Investment Officer for Link·Age Longevity Fund, LP; Jake Nice, a Senior Associate at Nationwide Ventures; Scott Smith, Founder and Managing Partner of Viant Group; Katy Fike, founding partner of Generator Ventures and co-founder of Aging 2.0; and Dr. Allison Sekuler, Managing Director of the Centre for Aging + Brain Health Innovation (CABHI). Past winners and finalists include Embodied Labs, Vynca, Noctrix Health and PetPlan. Details on the Competition are HERE.
"The Summit has opened the door to a number of investment opportunities for us," said John Hopper, Chief Investment Officer of the Ziegler Link·Age Funds. "The investment portfolio of our Ziegler Link·Age Funds includes a combined six companies whose leadership teams we met or enhanced our relationships with at the Summit. This is a great conference for innovative companies and it is a "must attend" event for us."
For the second year, the Boomer Venture Summit will host the Silicon Valley Innovation Competition sponsored by AARP Innovation Labs. Companies focused on promoting financial empowerment and resilience through solutions that leverage social connections are invited to apply to pitch. The winner will be chosen by AARP members and Summit attendees. The winning team will go on to the final AARP Innovation Hatchery Pitch Event in Washington DC in the fall of 2019.
