NEW YORK, Dec. 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Silhouette, the Austrian-based leader in lightweight and high quality, premium eyewear, is pleased to announce the opening of Silhouette Gallery, a dedicated showroom and meeting space bringing the experience of its spectacular Linz headquarters to the heart of New York City. Located on the 12th floor of a landmark building at 130 West 42nd Street, the custom space – designed by architect Steve Clem of tvsdesign – is open by appointment to trade, press and influencers, offering an exclusive immersion into the refined, inspired and impeccably styled world of Silhouette.
Hosting exclusive previews of new collections and concepts, personal eyewear fittings, key account appointments and special events, the Gallery functions as an important U.S. outpost and meeting place as well as a showcase for the company's portfolio of brands: Silhouette, adidas Sport Eyewear, and a new label launching in 2016. Feature walls highlight specialty products including Limited editions, Signature Collections, and designer collaborations (from Felder Felder to Wes Gordon to Todd Snyder), alongside sunglasses.
"We are thrilled to open our new Gallery, bringing the emotion and experience of the Austria headquarters here to New York," says Jan Cory U.S. President of Silhouette. "We look forward to welcoming our friends into our House of Silhouette to get to know the collections and enjoy this beautiful space."
The efficiently designed showroom is intended to evoke the ambiance and energy of the company's studio and headquarters in Linz, where all its products are designed and handcrafted, while honoring the New York location through the preservation of key features, including the original steel beams. Sleek, industrial and inviting, the Gallery is finished with modern furnishing and decorative flourishes – such as color changing LED lighting – that complement the product selection and reflect the company's meticulous attention to detail, while accommodating a variety of presentation and event scenarios. "The inspiration for the fluid shaped space was the family of Silhouette eyewear products," says architect Steve Clem. "The objective was to create a transformative space that could equally support a personal presentation, a larger group, a small theater display setting or other entertainment."
In addition to multiple meeting areas, the Gallery includes a new Silhouette brand Shop-in-Shop, a consultation area for frame fittings, and a library/lounge where guests can browse vintage company journals and learn about the legacy and evolution of Silhouette, founded in 1964.
Following Silhouette Gallery's first Open House on December 8, the space will welcome trade, press and influencers by appointment. To schedule an appointment, please contact Erin Farley, manager of Silhouette Gallery, by email at [email protected] or by phone at 212.316.4266 (ICON).
